Fools Empire

They said cornershops would be eradicated today.

Dug up and spat out
No longer needed.
We must get closer, we must get bigger, wiser, smarter, richer.
A tightening suffocating fist around my wrist,
Ready and waiting to snuff out my life.

I saw them lawn mowing the pavements with their big machines.
Mowing pavements with big machines.
Somethings wrong, why would they do that?
Forget the forest, forget the grass,
starving burnt embers in the hardening mud.

Go and mowe your pavements
With your big machines.

Look away! Or make my day!
Gaping with your mouths wide open.
Look away! Or make my day!
I never permit you to stare
I never asked you to glare
I won't be seen, I won't be noticed.
I won't let them enter
They won't pave me in.

A futuristic empire
Built out of vaccume packed dreams
Air tight, the string cuts like barbed wire
Heroine to numb the brain,
Gas to take away the pain.
A new world sinking
Getting smaller, people getting nearer.
Burning towards the sun.

Survival of the fittest
The struggle gets harder.
Our bodies, the simplest of clay
Jumbled
inside the spinning,
Round and round.
Hand picked selection, perhaps...
The white, the bright and the thin.

I struggle in the pavement
When my eye catches a glimpse of you.
I'm being watched as my head turns,
They snigger as my eyes burn
My black beauty
Shining amongst the trees.
Embrace me inside your darkness
Pick me away from this demise.

Look away! Fucking look away!
I won't permit them to see
I won't let them berate me,
To be paved and shelved away.

I see their teeth glinting clenched
Under the fog and the rain.

Embraced within your hard softness
We are no part of this

Sinking blood red world
Our bodies becoming invisible

Gripped tight in feathery branches.
I see their teeth chatter as they fall
Silently every head will hit the wall.
Those teeth lie naked in the rain,
Glistening like ivory,
Winking their silent last words.
